This research examines eleven works by six twentieth-century English composers in the genre of chamber music for solo recorder and piano or harpsichord. Through analyses of the musical works, a comparison of compositional styles, and a discussion of their historical context, the research will establish whether some or all of these composers share a musical style in this genre. The findings will be contribute to the understanding of styles and genres in twentieth-century English music.
